Bocce Ball at Rebecca Spit Marine Park.

Today was a busy day.  After walking Sally this morning and practically dragging her back to the boat (she absolutely, positively loves it here and never seems to want to go home), we went into Heriot Bay with Bill and Sylvia to buy groceries.  And buy we did!  So much so that I ended up over-loading the frig and had to defrost it before it would work properly – everything from handmade sausages to cream puffs taking up space.  But we won't have to worry about food for at least another three weeks...just about the time I'll need to do laundry again.

We had a late lunch and launched the kayaks for a paddle along the shoreline of Drew Harbour.  It was really nice.  The weather had cleared up beautifully and it was low tide, so we could clearly see the bottom as we travelled from one end of the spit to the other while watching the crabs crawl around in a panic.  That evening, we went to shore with Bill and Sylvia and had a light supper at one of the picnic tables along the shore and played a game of Bocce Ball (losing by one point to team Emmens).   It was a really great day.  Again, not normally something we do, but well worth the effort.
