Laundry. Laundry. And more laundry. Nine loads in total including everything from bath mats to dog beds, but it's all done now with the promise that I won't let it get out of control again (until the next time, that is). But one doesn't come to Gorge Harbour for peace and relaxation anyway. It's a bustling anchorage with people coming and going and activities taking place on shore daily, from yoga classes to nature walks: It's like summer camp for the young and old alike. And this weekend, it's the annual Cortes Island Music Festival over at Trude's Cafe. We're not sure what type of music they'replaying, but I heard a girl mention a mosh pit which would explain the primordial moaning and heavy back beat we could hear in the anchorage last night. Needles to say, we steered clear and just “enjoyed” what we could from the comfort of the boat.
Aside from massive amounts of laundry, we came to Gorge Harbour to meet some of our friends, Rick and Gerri Lee, who came over from Campbell River this weekend with her niece and boyfriend who are visiting from Toronto. It was hit and miss yesterday, but we ran into each other this morning and sat on the front deck overlooking the marina while Sally and Morgan, their young lab whom David affectionately calls Marley for obvious reasons, cooled down in the shade and we made plans to meet again in a couple of weeks at the Shoal Bay Music Festival.
It was very warm day. The warmest we've seen all year with temperatures in the boat reaching 77º F. DareI say it...it felt like summer. Word is that the low which is sitting inland and causing so much heat is beginning to break up which means our weather may finally start to improve. We'll keep our fingers crossed, but we won't hold our breath.
