Clearing skies in Phillips Arm.
I suppose you really should be careful what you wish for because the weather did take a turn for the worse and we spent Monday and Tuesday aboard surrounded by showers and grey skies – something we'll have to get used to when we move north next week.
When I took Sally to shore Tuesday morning, a lady from a large motor yacht waved at me, so I waved back. It wasn't until I arrived at the dock that I realized it was Annie and Craig, a couple we met in Princess Louisa Inlet last year, aboard a different boat. They're travelling with friends from San Francisco and Annie, being Annie, organized a pot luck dinner at the pub for a few of us serving up her specialty, and Mark's favourite, Vietnamese Spring Rolls.
I can't say that I was particularly in the mood for it or for taking Sally to shore, back to the boat, only to return to shore again all in the rain. But it was worth it. It was a really nice evening and a great break from the boat with David and Kelly playing the guitars and Annie and Craig dancing along to the music. But it can be difficult to shake a bad mood when Mother Nature's being cruel: one day it's summer and the next, fall.
And just to prove the point, the weather shaped up today and we were able to spend most of the day onshore – David adjusting his Fender and me pulling weeds around the deck we helped build last year in attempt to tidy it up for Sunday's pig roast celebrating Canada Day and the Fourth of July. Annie and Craig are here until tomorrow, so we had “happy hour” at the pub but said our good-byes and skipped out early for a quiet evening aboard – we can only socialize so much.
And as for the weather, the barometer's on the rise and promising more good weather which coincides with Environment Canada's forecast which, after the past two days, is really good news.
