Gig Harbor

Gig Harbor was all right but not the type of place you’d want to stay four days as we did. We didn’t do much while we were there. It was very warm this past week with temperatures reaching 95 degrees on land and 88 inside the boat, so we spent most of our time relaxing in the shade or in search of ice cream. There’s a nice historic downtown area to walk around and a fantastic view of Mount Rainier but not much else. It used to be a quaint little fishing village but has since turned into a suburb of Tacoma, and is a little too busy for our taste. But all and all, it was nice to get away and to start living on the hook again.

The good news is that the raw water pump arrived from the UK yesterday, so we made our way north to Poulsbo this morning to pick it up. It was really nice to be back and see so many familiar faces again. David will install the new pump tomorrow, and we’ll tie up to the dock for the afternoon on Sunday to work through the flushing out process. After that, it’s only a matter of organizing ourselves and some last minute details before we’re able to head off for the summer season.
