Salubrious under way in Cordero Channel.

Salubrious left yesterday morning and rounded the corner for Blind Channel for a second time ... and then came back again.  This time the volt meter was reading 16 volts.  David pulled some troubleshooting information off the internet regarding the Next Step regulator, printed it out, piled his tools back into the dinghy and went over with Bill to see what could be done.

What he found was a mess of wires melted together – they were lucky they didn't have a fire. They'll need a professional electrician to sort the problem, but David was able to set up the instruments so they worked, but only by disconnecting the charging system.   Like us a couple of summers ago, they'll have to rely on their auxiliary generator to keep their batteries topped up.

With David working aboard Salubrious, we missed slack tide yesterday pushing our departure back until this afternoon.  So we said our final good-byes to Shoal Bay for the season and went through the rapids followed by Bill and Sylvia.  And four hours later, we were anchored in Rebecca Spit on Quadra Island … for the third time this season.
