Today was the day! After months of waiting and preparation, we were finally ready to drop our lines and head north . . . or were we?
About two hours into the trip, David discovered two diesel leaks coming from loose fittings on the fuel supply lines at the number two and/or three injector. He was able to tighten one while under way, but needed to shut down the engine to reach the other one. So we made the call to stop in Port Ludlow, some 25 nautical miles north of Poulsbo, for the night.
At the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter. We made it out of Poulsbo and we were all able to let out a collective sigh of relief – or that might have just been David groaning when he saw the mess he had to clean up in the engine room bilge. Either way, we’re happy to be on our way and will be even happier tomorrow when we can give it another try.
