March Madness

Monday, March 16, 2015TheCambrians

I love college basketball.  Not in an all-encompassing way.  Just the Wichita State University men’s team.  But this blog isn’t about them.  Or the fact that they’ll be playing in the NCAA tournament.  It’s about CambriaAnd the crazy madness of getting her ready for an early April departure.

For the last few weeks, we’ve had some incredible weather here in the Pacific Northwest and we’ve been taking full advantage of it by getting some work done outside.  The days have been busy but we’re making progress and, if the fine weather continues, we might actually make our intended departure date . . . for the first time . . . ever.

Here’s what we’ve been up to:

David hard at work servicing the winches.
Concentrating on our planning chart of the Inside Passage.
  • Provisioning
  • Polishing the cabin top
  • Cleaning the teak decks
  • Staining the teak decks
  • Cleaning the cockpit canvas
Cambria had to go topless while her dodger and bimini were off being cleaned.
The sun sets as we approach Port Ludlow during our winter shake-down cruise.
  • Replacing the gypsy and bottom plate to our Lewmar windlass (more on that saga later)
  • Servicing the 5 Hp outboard motor
It’s not everything we’d hoped to accomplish, but it is a good start and we’re happy with the progress. Now, bring on the basketball!
