The new deck/stage
I'm not sure how it happened. We weren't swayed, bamboozled, or guilted into it, but David and I spent the day helping build a large deck that will second as a stage for the upcoming music festival on Mark's property. He's just that kind of guy. The type that you want help out. And Shoal Bay is that sort of place – one you want to see grow and carry on.
Later that day, we went back up to the pub to listen to a group of guys who were passing by on a boat play. They're from Port Townsend in Washington and play at the farmer's market and one of the pubs there regularly. It wasn't our kind of music, folk, but a lot of fun to listen to them and marvel at their travelling-sized instruments – an electric bass, mandolin, banjo and guitar. But tired from working all day after a month of spending so much time sitting on the boat in The Broughtons, we called it an early night and went back to the boat by 9 o'clock.
