At 6:52 am PST, our lives changed with a simple phone call. But in reality, they had changed nearly seven hours before when my nephew, Steven Michael Wittrig, left this earth tragically and senselessly. We're now on our way back to Wichita to be with the family.
Wittrig, Steven Michael, age 24, passed away Feb. 19, 2011 . He was a 2005 graduate of Goddard High School and a self-employed trim carpenter. He was loved greatly by his family, friends, pets, and will be missed. Preceded in death by grandfather William A. Smith, grandmother Donna Carothers, and great-grandfather Clarence H. Voge. Survived by parents: Steve and Terri Wittrig of Wichita, KS; brother: Kevin Wittrig; grandparents; Arline Smith of Wichita, KS and Kenneth (Lisa) Wittrig of Marion, KS; great-grandmother: Mary Jane Voge; aunts: Sharon (Eric) Wieters, Stephanie (David) Gardiner, Debbie (Dave) Fanning, and Kristee Wittrig; uncles: Steven Smith, Michael (Joyce) Voge; and numerous cousins. Viewing will be Tues. 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Resthaven Mortuary. Funeral service will be held at East Heights U.M.C. 10:30 a.m., Wed. Feb. 23, 2011.
