The salon before the actual unloading began.
As much as we hated saying good-bye to our families, it was time to start making our way back to the boat, and that could only mean one thing: winter storm warnings and hazardous weather from California to New Mexico. After waiting a week for things to settle down, we finally decided to take the northern route through Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, and Oregon early Tuesday morning. It was a nice change from the drudgery of I-40 and I-5 and 1000 miles shorter with the only downside being that we didn't get to visit David's sons on the way home - something a quick flight will have to remedy later on.
The drive went well for the most part, and we got home Wednesday evening. Cambria was a sight for sore eyes - even Sally squealed in delight when she saw where we were. In spite of the mess below decks, we managed to put our cabin back together in short order and fell into bed having one of the best night's sleep in months proving the old adage, "there's no place like home".
Now that we're back, the real work can begin. We have a long list of jobs we'd like to complete before dropping our lines this spring - everything from hauling-out to installing new solar panels - so it's time to shut down the computer and get to work!
